Oaklawn Track Announcer Terry Wallace Ends Streak at 20,191

Terry Wallace, Oaklawn Park’s track announcer for 37 years, ended his record streak of consecutive race calls at 20,191 Friday when he handed over the microphone to Frank Mirahmadi for the fifth race, which was won by Heavenly Appeal. Wallace, who was back in the booth for the sixth race, took advantage of Mirahmadi’s visit to the track and enjoyed his very first Oaklawn race among the fans on the apron. Read More

Horse of the Year Zenyatta Leads Oaklawn Trio at Eclipse Awards

Following on the heels of Curlin (2007 and 2008) and Rachel Alexandra (2009), Jerry and Ann Moss’ Zenyatta became the fourth consecutive horse with ties to Oaklawn Park to be named Horse of the Year when the awards were announced Monday night in Miami, Fla. Coincidently, Oaklawn had honored the multiple champion earlier in day with a wildly popular Zenyatta bobblehorse giveaway just as it had done in previous years with Curlin and Rachel Alexandra. Caleb's Posse Takes Smarty Jones Stakes with Authority

The only thing clear at Oaklawn Park on Monday was Caleb’s Posse’s two and three-quarter length victory over Dreaminofthewin in Monday’s $100,000 Smarty Jones Stakes. A dense fog covered Hot Springs and made it very difficult for race fans and announcer Terry Wallace to see much other than the final strides of the one-mile race for 3-year-olds hoping to make the $1 million Arkansas Derby (G1) on April 16.
