American Pharoah returned to the track Thursday morning at Churchill Downs, two days after a half-mile breeze in preparation for his bid to become racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner in the Belmont Stakes June 6 at Belmont Park. Under regular exercise rider Jorge Alvarez, American Pharoah jogged approximately a mile the wrong way during the special 15-minute window (7:30 a.m.-7:45 a.m., Central) set aside for horses running in the Belmont Stakes.

The King of Thoroughbred racing, American Pharoah, and the Queen of country music, Wynonna, will both be celebrated in June during an exciting month at Oaklawn. June 6 has been declared “American Pharoah Day” in honor of the Arkansas Derby, Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner and Oaklawn has planned a day full of fun leading up to his attempt at history in the Belmont Stakes. Later in the month, Wynonna will hit the Finish Line Theater stage Friday, June 26.

Arkansas Derby winners have recorded two of the six largest margins of victory in Preakness Stakes history following American Pharoah’s romp Saturday at Pimlico. American Pharoah splashed home by seven lengths, equaling the sixth-biggest blowout in the race’s 140-year history.

American Pharoah broke his maiden from the rail. Now, he’ll try to capture the second leg of the Triple Crown from the same spot. The Arkansas Derby and Kentucky Derby winner was installed the 4-5 program favorite Wednesday after drawing the inside post for the Preakness Stakes Saturday at Pimlico. Madefromlucky punched his ticket to the June 6 Belmont Stakes with a one-length victory in Saturday’s $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park. The son of champion and 2010 Rebel Stakes winner Lookin at Lucky was making his first start since finishing a distant fourth behind American Pharoah in the $1 million Arkansas Derby (G1) April 11 at Oaklawn.
