Multiple stakes winner Far Right was among 61 horses stabled at Oaklawn Monday morning, the first day the track was open for training. Far Right was the top locally based 3-year-old male at the 2015 Oaklawn meeting, winning the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes and the $300,000 Southwest Stakes (G3), but hasn’t started since finishing sixth in the $500,000 Indiana Derby (G2) July 18 at Indiana Grand.

YES WE CAN FOOD DRIVE COLLECTS RECORD AMOUNT

For the fourth consecutive year, Oaklawn patrons and Team Members joined forces to collect canned and other non-perishable food items for local Hot Springs charities and the result was a record amount of donations with more than 15,000 items gathered. Last year, the week-long food drive collected 10,000 items.

Major Oaklawn stakes winner Gold Medal Dancer is scheduled to return to action in Saturday’s $200,000 Chilukki (G2) Stakes for fillies and mares at Churchill Downs. Trained by Donnie K. Von Hemel, Gold Medal Dancer is winless in three starts since beating champion Untapable in the $300,000 Azeri Stakes (G2) March 14 at Oaklawn.
