One day after a Jacksonville, AR woman won $81,640 playing a $.25 Wheel of Fortune machine, another woman became a $100,000 richer after winning the Grand Prize in Grillin’ and Chillin’ Tailgate Spectacular. Eleanor Mitchell, of Jacksonville, AR, has 81,000 reason to be thankful for this holiday weekend after hitting a jackpot worth $81,640 while playing the $.25 Wheel of Fortune machine Saturday morning. The jackpot, which was hit at 3:32 a.m., 30 minutes before the doors closed for the day, was the largest at Oaklawn since the new gaming center opened in 2009. Read More

Oaklawn’s barn area opened Monday in advance of the 2012 live racing season.The track will open next Monday, Nov. 21, for training. The 2012 Live Meet begins Friday, Jan. 13 and culminates Saturday, April 14 with the 76th running of the $1 million Arkansas Derby. Read More

For the fourth consecutive year, Oaklawn Park’s newly released first condition book will reflect an increase in purses from the start of the previous meet. For the first time in track history, maiden allowance races will start out carrying a minimum purse of $40,000 and the minimum claiming race purse will be $15,300. Last year, maiden allowance races started at $36,000 and the minimum purse was $15,200. Read More
