Trainer David Whited has lived in Hot Springs for 35 years and has been heavily invested in the Arkansas breeding program throughout this time. The 2011 season brought him two stakes wins at Oaklawn with Rattlesnake Holler in the $50,000 Rainbow Stakes and All About Allie in the $50,000 Rainbow Miss Stakes. Both winners are back for the 2012 meet and pointing toward major races for Arkansas-bred.

Whited began training after 36 years as a jockey and bought Friendswood Farm in Hot Springs. In addition to keeping a majority of his horses at the farm, many other horsemen use this training and layup facility, especially during the Oaklawn Park meeting.

During his riding career, Whited, who still gets on horses regularly in the morning, won 3,784 races. Among his best mounts at Oaklawn was Promised City, who swept the 1975 Southwest Stakes, Rebel Stakes and Arkansas Derby before finishing seventh in the Kentucky Derby.  Other top Oaklawn mounts include Crimson Falcon, Golden Notes and Red Tigress.

As a trainer, his best horse has been All About Allie, winner of the 2010 Lady Razorback and E.L. Gaylord Memorial, as well as the 2011 Rainbow Miss.
