Chris Emigh

•    Emigh is not a native Cajun, but he’s another top rider to emerge from Louisiana, having grown up there while his father worked on off-shore oil rigs. He started out at Louisiana Downs and Fair Grounds before moving to Chicago in 1996 on the advice of fellow rider Robby Albarado and became a perennial champion in the Windy City.
•    A seven-time leading jockey at Hawthorne, Emigh most recently finished 2nd in the 2013 Spring meet and 7th during 2013 Fall meeting.  He was a top-10 rider at Oaklawn in 2011.
•    His biggest career wins include an upset of the 1996 Hawthorne Gold Cup aboard Come On Flip (his first graded stakes victory) and the 2008 Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn with Sierra Sunset. He won the Essex Handicap two years in a row with Prom Shoes in 2009 and Racing Bran in 2010. He has five stakes victories aboard Palanka City including three scores here in Arkansas. Most recently, he won the 2014 Hot Springs Stakes with Work All Week.
•    Emigh has more than 3,000 wins, getting his latest milestone at Arlington in 2009. He won his 1,000th race aboard a horse appropriately names Family Plan in 1997 after rushing to the track after the birth of his second daughter. He won six times on a Hawthorne program in 2008.
