- Jockey Channing Hill made his presence known early this meet when he piloted the talented race mare, Don’t Tell Sophia, to victory in The Pippin for trainer Phil Sims. The 2005 Eclipse Award finalist for Outstanding Apprentice Jockey comes in off an outstanding 2013 where he finished seventh in the jockey standings at Arlington Park and second at Kentucky Downs.
- The native of Nebraska got his start at Prairie Meadows when he was 16, riding full time during the summers while still in high school. After graduating in 2005, he made the move to New York and made his career riding there and New Jersey and became a top-10 rider.
- The biggest win of his career came in 2008 when he rode First Defense to victory in the Grade 1 Forego Handicap at Saratoga. That same year, he also won the Black Eyed Susan (G2) with Sweet Vendetta and the Barbara Fritchie Handicap (G2) with Golden Dawn. Other top mounts include: Infinite Magic, Fiddlers Afleet, What a Pear, Wall Street Wonder, Dry Martini, Expansion and Tidal Dance.
- Hill is currently engaged to Shelbi Catalano, daughter of trainer Wayne Catalano.
