  • Had another solid Oaklawn meet in 2012, finishing eighth in the standings with 14 wins. Among them were two stakes victories by Gleaming (American Beauty and Spring Fever) and one by Beat the Blues (Carousel).
  • After concentrating his efforts primarily in Louisiana and Texas, his stable now often has more than 100 horses with divisions stretched from the East Coast to the Southwest at any given time.
  • Won two Breeders’ Cup races in 2010 – the Turf Sprint with former claimer Chamberlain Bridge and Filly & Mare Sprint with Dubai Majesty.
  • Calhoun took out his trainer's license at Louisiana Downs in 1993, winning his first race on April 1, 1994, at Trinity Meadows with Ramjet. Won his first stakes race at Sam Houston Race Park when Sweet Misty won the Sam Houston Oaks on April 12, 1997. 
  • Launched his training career with horses bred by his father, William (Buddy) Calhoun, a school teacher who owned and trained at Louisiana Downs.
